About
Gemma’s role at Petals and Pampas is varied – from sweeping the floors to buying the stock, making the all important coffee to bringing her couple’s visions to life!
Gemma is a one woman band with oodles of passion, vision and creative flair (with edge, or so people tell her!).
I often get asked what made me become a florist.
I didn’t dive into the world of petals straight from school, but was more of a late bloomer. I spent a lot of my 20s travelling – working my way round Europe in a campervan and picking fruit for work. Then when I have saved enough I went travelling – first stop, Thailand!
I realised that instead of taking photos of the ornate temples, all I was taking photos of were the tropical flowers growing in front of them. I decided that enough was enough, and upon my return I enrolled into a floristry course at Bath College, started 2 weeks later and the rest, as they say is history.
My all time favourite combination…(as I get asked this a lot) would be a whole load of dried flowers, mixed with some very cottage garden blooms like big frilly roses, along with some punchy proteas for a bit of pizazz, yum! Anyway, that’s enough about me, no doubt I have some pampas fluff to be clearing up! Xxx
